Frequently Asked Questions:
What are HomeTeams? It’s not just a fun name for small groups
– it’s a team
of about 5-10 people who meet
together in a host home
to connect, study, grow and pray.
When do HomeTeams
begin?
The HomeTeams begin the week of October 1 and run approximately 6 to 12
weeks.
Who may attend a HomeTeam? HomeTeams
are for anyone who wants to
experience a dynamic, growing
faith…and have fun and make
friends at the same time!
What exactly takes place in a HomeTeam
group? There
are many parts to a healthy group.
Typically a group begins with a
“connecting” time. This provides
a fun way to share and get to know
one another. The Bible study portion
helps you not just to talk about the
truth you learn but also to
experience it in a practical way.
There is also a time of sharing and
praying. If you are new to praying
in a small group, you won’t be
pressed to pray until you feel
ready.
Is
there a cost to be in a HomeTeam? Typically
you purchase your own study
materials.
What type of groups will be offered? The
HomeTeams we are offering at this
time are women’s, men’s, and
couples. There is also a women’s
group called MomTime that meets
monthly. There is also a Spiritual
Formation class and a HomeFront
Pilates class.
How do I get in a
HomeTeam?
All you need to do is contact the
Small Groups Director, Anna Matthews
at anna@homefrontchurch.org
or 616-745-2320 to sign up TODAY!
Also, we will have a sign up display
in the lobby of the church until the
last Sunday in September.
Do I need to sign up if I was in a group
last year? Yes. It helps the hosts to know who exactly will be
participating.
What
if the group I joined does not fit
who I am? There is no obligation to stay in a group,
but we suggest you give it a chance
for a couple of weeks.
Who
leads a HomeTeam?
Each group has a leader, but we recommend that you rotate the job of
facilitating your discussions so
that everyone’s abilities and
gifts can emerge and develop. Other
responsibilities are shared as well,
such as bringing refreshments or
keeping up with those who miss a
meeting. There’s no reason why one
or two people need to do everything
since you are all a “team”; in
fact, sharing ownership of the group
will help everyone grow and become a
HomeTeam. Finally, the Bible says that when two or more are gathered together in
Jesus’ name, he is there in your
midst. Ultimately,
God’s Spirit is your leader each
step of the way.
What is the curriculum? For this session, curriculum has been
selected by the participating HomeTeam
Hosts.
